How we make our garments and the people behind it
Our production process is truly unique. All of our designs are carefully crafted at our own studio in Milan, Italy. The studio is run by an Italian family APHRU's founder met when she was figuring out how to establish the most efficient production setup.
Giovanna is our Head of Production. She has more than 30 years of experience with Italian design, craftsmanship and high quality jersey materials. Along with her daughter Ilaria they she leads a team of ten; seven women and three men, who participate in every part of the value chain from fabric sourcing and pattern making to cutting and sewing.
As we have grown, parts of the production process is outsourced to other smaller family owned businesses around the Milan area, each experts in their fields. The cutting of all our fabrics takes place at a small laboratory in a village near Lake Como, run by an Italian family for generations. They only work for a few renowned Italian brands, and us. Parts of the sewing is outsourced to another small family owned business, also located in a small village not far from Lake Como.
Our Norwegian design team work closely with our highly skilled Italian production team to give each style the characteristic APHRU fit and look. When we are not in Milan, we have an almost daily dialogue on email, Skype and Whatsapp. Our approach to production ensure that tradition and experience blend with state-of-the-art technology. Each APHRU piece truly reflects the passion of the people who made your garment.
